The objective of the Practical Options Trading course is to prepare both beginner and experienced options traders to trade like professional derivative traders and make a living from using various options strategies.

Whether used for premium generation, speculation, or hedging, our Practical Options Trading & Strategies course gives you an introduction to options theory and shows you how to apply simple and advanced trading strategies for all trading styles.

The maximum profits, loss, risks, and rewards of all strategies covered will be explored with real case studies, which illustrate how a given strategy performs under a variety of changing variables and real market conditions.

Some of the practical tools our students will enjoy:

  • Analysis and case studies of current events in the market as applied to course material.
  • Work with options analysis tools and trading platforms used by Wall Street professionals.
  • Real-time trading and hedging examples for stock indices and stocks using options and derivatives.
  • Identify the right trading style for you while knowing how to adapt to changing market conditions.

Brief Curriculum:

    Part 1: Introduction to Options
Introduction to the general terminology, basic concepts, and mechanics of options. All of the prerequisite theory needed to build a solid foundation for understanding options.

Part 2: Valuing Options and Option Pricing
Option pricing is impacted by a variety of factors, not all of them are obvious. One of the best ways to gain a deep understanding of options is by studying options pricing models such as the Black & Scholes model, which helps to predict how options will respond to changing market conditions and parameters. You will learn about the important inputs to the options pricing model and how to analyze risk/reward before and after entering into a position.

    Part 3: Advanced Strategies
The use of advanced options strategies can dramatically enhance your profitability, decrease the risk of your positions, and lower your position entry cost. We will cover advanced trading strategies such as: Bull/Bear Spread, Straddle, Strangle, Butterfly, Calendar Spreads, and more.

Part 4: Practical Trading in Options
We will explore all aspects of getting started with live trading and will teach you to treat options trading like a business. This will include but not be limited to: How to read option quote screens, electronic executing on the different options exchanges, using a trading platform and analytical tools, choosing a brokerage firm, understanding margin requirements, preparing a trade plan, monitoring and evaluating positions, and more.

Part 5: Using Options to Generate Income
Options make it possible for you to profit from stock or index stagnation by way of premium collection. You will learn how to make money from stocks even when they don’t move at all. This can be done by selling covered calls and using advanced strategies such as the Time decay curve, Time Spreads, Butterfly, Condor, Delta Neutral, and more.

Part 6: Buying and Selling Volatility
The Relationship between Volatility and Price is key when trading options. You will learn how volatility affects the extrinsic value of the option. You will learn the concept of Selling High Volatility and Buying Low Volatility and how to implement the Delta Neutral trading strategy.

Part 7: Index Options & Strategies
Learn about the trading opportunities and strategies for options on broad based Indexes and ETFs. Learn the risk/rewards of trading non-standard ETFs such as leveraged ETFs and commodity ETFs and understand the alternative of using options on index futures.

    Part 8: Special Situations
Understand the use of options on non-standard and high-risk situations such as mergers/takeovers and short squeeze. Learn to let the options market tip you off on significant upcoming events and more.

Part 9: Position Risk Management & Psychology
Learn how to control risk and preserve capital by using a set of trading rules that will help you to deal with successful and unsuccessful trades. Develop a disciplined approach for surviving the business of options trading in the long-run.

Small Groups

We believe that personal attention and tutoring is the most effective way to help you understand the material and succeed. That’s why each class has a high teacher to student ratio (with a maximum of 10 students per class) to give our students the personal attention and the depth of knowledge they need in order to be successful traders.
